Creative Direction & Design of a Punk EP
Client:
Chainsaw Lassy
Description:
I developed the complete creative direction for Spite, an EP release by punk band Chainsaw Lassy. The visual identity embraced a raw, DIY aesthetic that balanced authenticity with deliberate design polish, mirroring the band’s gritty yet self-aware sound. A physically distressed composition notebook served as the cover concept, its wear enhanced in post-production for visual impact. The central artwork was sourced from a public domain book, physically altered, then scanned, edited, and reimagined to embody the EP’s title and tone.
Goals:
Establish a cohesive visual identity that reflects the band’s personality and style.
Create physical and digital assets to generate excitement and fan connection ahead of release.
Design merchandise-ready graphics that could be adapted for stickers, online content, and promotional materials.
Scope:
Brand Strategy & Creative Direction
Developed a visual language rooted in zine culture, notebook doodles, and found imagery.
Visual Design
Designed CD packaging, stickers, t-shirts, and a looping animated GIF for social media promotion. I created the notebook cover by physically aging the object and digitally enhancing its textures. Edited and composited public domain imagery to create a striking, spiteful central graphic.
